"The Liberation of James Joyce" is a dramedy that centers around David, a functional alcoholic in his early 30's, whose life is in pieces. While driving cross-country, David encounters two prostitutes who will change him forever, and vice-versa. The film takes a look at a man, who has no interest in helping himself, but goes out of his way to help a wayward teen.

"The Liberation of James Joyce" was written by Ryan Alexander. The screenplay was in the works for almost four years. It was originally titled, "It's Midnight, James".
