@Halotics uh Well It all depends. I will say this.thought. if your a hobbyist like myself who is an independent film maker Lightwave is a great choice for the All around Do it all Model Animate Render package but if you will be working with a team of guys in a usual studio manner then probably maya. is the better tool to learn under your belt. just for the sake of the work flow or pipeline. They both create the same effects depending on the Artist and how he uses his skills.
