Part 1 of 8 of "The Munsters Today" unaired television pilot starring the later re-cast Mary Ellen Dunbar as Marilyn.

This pilot was written and produced by Lloyd J. Scwartz, bridging the gap between the 1966 series and the Munster family in 1988. The series was picked up and ran for three successful seasons on syndicated television, proving popular with a new generation of Munster fans.

With all due respect to John Schuck, he's poorly cast as Herman. I'm sorry, but Herman Munster sounds too much like Charles Nelson Reilly. Marilyn is also poorly cast... obviously they thought of going "retro" by keeping Marilyn looking as she did in the 60s... while this makes sense, the show is called The Munsters TODAY, so her appearance would appear woefully dated.

@whewfan This was the pilot, the original title "The New Munsters". Regardless of it being set "today" (in 1988), Marilyn went into the coffin in 1966, obviously she doesn't come out magically transformed for the 80's. The format for the show changed (becoming "The Munsters Today") and the pilot wasn't re-shot with Hilary, making her 'of the times' from the first episode, with footage from the pilot used in the theme song to explain the 22 year gap. Genius in my opinion! What a great show!
