Just brought my new Evinrude E-TEC 25 home from my dealer, after waiting nearly 2 months, I can't wait to get it on the water!

I hooked up the tanks, connected a battery.. and away she went. Runs smooth, no smoke, and very little odour. Also, very quiet!!

*Note: my rough running comment was due to the rev limiter kicking in while in neutral (didn't realize it had one!).

  • how much did it coast?

  • @TheTate22 iirc, $4172.00 CAD.

  • is this a four stroke? If not, does it come in a 4 stroke model?

  • @CMSTfishermen This is a two stroke - it does not come in a 4 stroke model. In fact, it's whole reason for being and it's superiority in the marketplace are due to it being a two stroke. Lighter, more powerful, better fuel economy than a 4 stroke. Throw out all you know about two strokes... except for their benefits - this new class of 2 strokes bests a 4 stroke in every way. Less moving parts, less maintenance, light weight, more fuel efficient and cleaner for the environment.

  • You said that the reason it got shaky when you revved it up was the rev limiter. Does this mean that you can never rev it up in neutral? Does it have to stay at a low idling speed in neutral?

  • @esobofh Absolutely buddy, I could not ha ve said it any better!!!!!

  • @esobofh i will ask when i will by

  • @jstol14 That's a good question... I expect it would use it's own power output to run the tilt motor if there was no battery present, but I can't say that for certain - the power required to run the tilt motor might be more than what it outputs.. although, they do have huge alternators when compared to similar class outboards. A good question for the dealer before you purchase. Having the pull start is a great thing but not requiring a battery at all would be fantastic!

  • @borgey420 After having owned it... I would never buy anything else. Fantastic performance... really can't be touched by any other manufacturer (at least, not yet!)

  • Dude that's such an awesome motor.
