  • This song was not from 1964 as i remember it was more like 1965 or 66. The original lable was Hawthorn as was their debut song It's been so long. The Twilights were were screaming @ the same time the 5 Stairsteps were kicking their hits .......but they never got any recognition.. The flip side of Shipwrecked was For the first time written by Eddie Holman. Sorry Jackson 5 but you guys ain't never had a song that can still drive the pasion and desire that these groups sang with

  • @ppehsy I'm sure this song was released in '64! I'm personal friends with the members of the group and have worked with them many times over the years!!

  • The Harthon release is from '64 (late '64 I think). Here's what I think happened.. This got issued again by Parkway, which would have most likely happened in '65. Cameo / Parkway had a lot of pull at that time and would have had more luck getting this on the air than Harthon would have. That would explain why you heard this as a new record in '65. This happened a lot. "There's A Moon Out Tonight" by The Capris is a great example.. Originally released in '58 and not a hit until '61

  • Hey musicminor25 This song may very well have been recorded in 64' but it was not released or played on the radio in Philly til @ least 65' or 66' like i said in my earlier post The Twilights were on the scene @ the same time The 5-Stairsteps debuted with You waited too long & World of fantasy. See if you can get in touch with Butter-ball from radio station W.D.A.S. for the final answer to this debate
