  • Hope people are listening Jeff. We need to start coming up with alternatives and different ways of working and living now. It will profoundly change the way we live. Oil is in everything, from food production to plastics. We need to get together and put on our thinking caps before it's too late.

  • just being sarcastic, that's all. take it easy. if our congress passes a law for Shanghai stock exchange to trade below NYSE, then NYSE will still be an attractive place to park money. LOL Those bozos think that they can legislate every fart, until the secret service just arrests and executes all of them and we march on to a fuhrer-based state.

  • sinitskyd;

    I think your missing a few points here;

    1) If you pass a law for $25 per gallon that would be about $1125/barrel (assuming a 45 gal. drum). So let's assume you made a typo and meant barrel... the oil sand producers would simply stop producing.

    2) Since Canada does not have a Congress, I don't think a law US Congress passes on limiting the price of oil will have any impact. Canadian oil producers will simply sell to others willing to pay more.

  • Good quick points.

    I may even seek out this book for perusal.

    What wasn't mentioned, but will soon become apparent is that the concept of 'newer is better' needs to fade away.

    Old cars need to be maintained & retrofitted if need be. Ditto for buildings & homes. Surely almost all consumer goods have lifespans much longer than the brief window when they have the 'new [car] smell'.

    This means a new thinking about the value of thrift over the cost of the ephemeral pleasure of shopping.

  • and if they pass a resolution for oil to sell at $25 per gallon, then if oil sells for more than that, oil will go to jail. passing a law by our Congress and Senate will solve all the problems. Don't you get it?

  • You've been watching so much CSPAN that you're starting to think like them.

  • Our esteemed congress and sentate should pass a resolution to price tar-sands oil extraction cheaper. Then we will have cheaper oil. Just like they passed a resolution telling Social Security not to run out of money, and now Social Security cannot by law run out of money.

  • glad your doing videos
