On Sunday 15th August 2010, two steam hauled railtours were due to leave the Great Western Railway's Bristol Temple Meads within 10 minutes of each other heading different ways. They both did run but sadly with a delay of a 38 minute gap.
The first to leave, and on time, was the tried and tested 'Torbay Express' to Kingswear for Dartmouth at 0915 hauled by GWR 4-6-0 60xx 'King' Class number 6024 'King Edward I', hauling a rake of chocolate and cream coaches, authentic for the late 1950s.
38 minutes later, with a 28 minute delay, GWR 4-6-0 4073 'Castle' Class number 5029 'Nunney Castle' departed with a mix of maroon and green coaches, along with her chocolate and cream support coach, bound for Weymouth on the 'Weymouth Coast Express', the first time this tour has ran and the first time a 'Castle' has reached the coastal resort of Weymouth since 7029 'Clun Castle' way back in 1965.
Thanks Bob, it was a great sight.
