WORMERVEER Bij een bedrijf waar houtverwerkingsmachines worden verhandeld in Wormerveer is zaterdag een grote brand uitgebroken. Korpsen uit de wijde omtrek zijn uitgerukt om de brand in het pand aan de Soldaatweg te bestrijden. De brandt woedt in het kantoorgedeelte van het bedrijf.

De plek van de brand was voor de brandweer moeilijk bereikbaar. Er zijn geen gewonden gevallen.

De eerste melding van de brand kwam rond 11.15 uur binnen. Het vuur veroorzaakte veel stankoverlast in de omgeving en ging gepaard met veel rookontwikkeling.. Vooralsnog blijkt uit metingen niet dat er gevaarlijke stoffen zijn vrijgekomen. De brandweer raadt mensen die last van de rook hebben wel aan om ramen en deuren gesloten te houden.
