Pffft if they can't do African American hair, or just plain black color hair, then they've lost a large percentage of their potential customers right there- they've certainly lost me.

Ergh, I myself am part African and think that this attention seeking woman needs to build a bridge. They obviously were concerned that they didn't want to wreck her hair as they didn't feel qualified to deal with it. Perhaps that was bordering on unprofessional, but definetly not worth a lawsuit.

As a black man I dont think this was necessarily a denial due to racism, but that is not to say that racism is involved. I know many black barbers who cant cut white people aside from shaving them bald. Just the same I know a white hair stylist who said she didn't know how to style black woman's hair either. I didn't find it racist, and I don't really find JcPenny racist in this case either. Maybe JCPenney should hire a women who knows what she is doing, but I don't really think this was racist.

If wal-mart does all types of styles so can jcpenny. Wal-Mart has black and white cosmetologists and they do all types of hair. In beauty school they let white girls do black hair and black girls do white hair to explore diversity. If you're a cosmetologists and can't do certain types of hair then you're in the wrong profession. Why didn't they say ''i just don't want to do your hair'' that would have been better. saying that they can't do it........is a lie.

its kind of sad racism still exist people try to act like it dont.people want to work but noone will hire them and people call them lazy cause they have no job and if by chance they do get hired they are treated like crap on the job.
