You should be ashamed co-opting native history for cheap applaus from Japanese tourists on a weekend tour of "real Tainos" in Puerto Rico.Next stop Miami to drink from the fountain of youth.

Today Taino music and culture is influenced by the surviving arawak, theTaino background is an extention of the them not the north american indian. Its like you believe the Taino is trying to be like north american indians. Look, all indigenous music is played from the spiritual patterns of the human heartbeat. No intellegent person should ever discredit todays Taino music especially since no one knows how it sounds. Give credit to what culture the Taino still have and watch how it evolves.

My friend, everything you just wrote was based on asumption. The fact is no one living today is an actual eye witness to prove if the Taino this or that. Fortunately Certain things that we do know about the culture comes from the accounts taken by individuals from that time. It informs us that the Taino culture shares similarities with their Arawak desendants we also know they danced the same. We also know they played their music with simple repeating patterns.

Everyone brings music to the USA. Some music is created right in the states either by ethnic influence or self creation and for the most part through merging. Pan-American music is very well acknowledge. Music is always evolving so I don't understand your question. The point here is North American Indian music shown as a background and culture for Taino music.
