  • I've collected material to do two more group plantings, both of which will be done this fall/winter, and will be recorded on video for Youtube -- one of Chinese juniper, and one of deodar cedar.

  • @chasnsx you said you grew these from cuttings. What exactly is a cutting and what is the best way to go about growing one?

  • @clownbaby83 I have a separate video about juniper cuttings here on Youtube. Briefly, a cutting is a piece taken from a larger plant and encouraged to grow its own roots. See my video entitled "Juniper cuttings"

  • I would suggest you your fingers to prune the little out of shape twigs.there is alot of browning so is it from the shears is the soil good?and water is not from tap?

  • The shearing causes a little of the browning. Most of it is caused by anomalous weather we have been having -- cool and very dry springs and summers, very low humidity. This group was repotted in May and the late repotting may have contributed. Our tap water is from wells drilled into the Santa Ana River aquifer, Ph is about 7.8. Pines and junipers like it, but azaleas are impossible to grow and maples rarely show color in the fall.

  • Fantastic Juniper Group, it looks great!!!

  • These were grown from cuttings, how thick? And when were they started?

  • @chasnsx Hello. I enjoy watching your tutorials and you have some very interesting specimens. I was wondering if you'd share some information regarding the type of fertilizer and soil composition you use. Thanks!
