picked mine up a week ago and i love it. sadly i live in new york so i have no flash hider or bayonet lug the stock is fixed and it came with a 10 round mag. mine also came with a magpul MBUS rear sight which was a nice touch the lack of a foward assist does bother me wen i first chamber a round i tired not to slam the bolt closed and sure enough it didnt close all the way but that can be easily avoided all in all tho great gun i paid $700 for it at a local shop

Isn't the "REM" on the ammo box for "Remington"? It's .223 Remington. Otherwise, nice review. Just picked up 2 of these for my SHTF cache.for $1200 OTD and so far I have put about 200 rounds through each with no issues. I have owned other AR's and have never once used the forward assist anyway and I'm anal about cleaning the guns so the lack of a dust cover is also no big deal. I also love the light weight.

my AK47 does not have a dust cover.......or a FWD assist......Well AKs are better rifles just a little less accurate but I am digging the Sport more and more

Hi Is there any way off letting me knw where you purchased the gun at?? My husband is interested in one like this!!

@freshurricane6 thats good i hate it here

I have the same exact weapon....flawless operation and like you I don't feel the forward assist and dust cover is a negative...I don't feel it is an "entry level" AR, as I have shot other higher priced AR's and this preforms as well as the "high end" models

I am actually looking at getting my first AR15 and not looking to spend more than $825 for the gun itself. I would change the front hand guard for a quad rail then get the guards i want on it so i don't hurt my hand. Would you recommend the M&P15 as a first AR15? I normally shoot a bolt-action .308 and .30-06. I think the M16 style AR15 (non-adjustable stock with full length barrel) is too heavy for my liking.

@Ratkill9000 The M&P15 sport is a great starter AR if you wanna spend about $550-625. It sounds like you want to spend less than 100 on add ons, so I think youre in a whole different category as far as price. You could get an entry level REAL AR with a dust cover, forward assist and a chrome lined barrel. Look at the M&P15, the bushmaster, and the Rock River. Any of those would be a great AR. Those AR's weigh about 7 lbs, thats light compared to what youre used to.

whats your opinion on this rifles reliability vs a normal m16a1 when i was in the service, no matter how many times i cleaned my m16 or m4 the damn thing would always some how jam or misfeed on occasion, i know some other variants such as the H&K style AR series have had that flaw designed out of the weapon per say.

@unimatrix82 I like to buy CHEAP ammo since I like to shoot so much. I feed this thing every type fo cheap ammo, mostly tulammo. I NEVER experienced a malfunction. I think it is a very reliable AR type rifle. Honestly I think a lot of malfunctions in the AR platform are due to magazine type.

I'm sure this has been posted already but I would not try and clear a jam with your finger on the bolt for you will burn your booger picker! Happy shooting..
