  • Sushruta is the father of surgery. 2600 years ago he and health scientists of his time conducted surgeries like cesareans, cataract, fractures and urinary stones. Usage of anaesthesia was well known in ancient India. Dental (tooth extraction) and Rhinoplasty (nose job) surgery was also being done. During vedic times, a person who committed adultery had his nose cut off ! Ouch! Search ancient Indian surgery.

  • The wires hold the intraocular lens in a centered and fixed position. The lens has a fixed focal length. Depending on the lifestyle of the patient ... hobbies, work, etc. the actual focal length is discussed with the patient.

  • yes, after my post above I did research and found that today they have a kind of gelatin lens able to chage the angle to close or distance focus, moved by action of muscles on eye, and conected by wires. Before that there was multi focal lens implant, that generate two images, one for close and other for distance focus, but middle range was a problem, since had just two options.
