I love that I can go to France to study Judo (If I wanted to ) walk up and say "Sode Guruma Jime" and they'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
-
@shinjukool sode guruma jime is the original name, in bjj gracies named it after a famous brazilian judoka named ezequiel who choked them all out in training
-
@ChinaHoovers Outstanding comment!

@bizkitninja if you can you should grab the collar as close to the neck as possible with the palm of the hand facing uke's chest from there when you start to apply the strangle you rotate that arm so that now the palm is facing you (around 90 degrees) this not only pulls the collar in tight but also forces the blade of your forearm and wrist into uke's neck which is extremely uncomfortable and induces furious tapping almost instantly =D
-
can anyone clarify.. does toris hand in front of the neck take hold of ukes collar or is it just placed across the throat??
-
@shinjukool no you're right let's just keep things as they are forever.... moving forward isn't important at all.
-
@asdfero are you stupid! the gracies still call judo techniques by the japanese name
-
if he did not dress for themselves and must wrestle with a freestyle wrestler who anoint the body, what does he do
-
One of my favorite techniques! Thanks for the video!

The other guy has cited examples, eg. the Tripp article, Kimura's bio, etc. but you ignore those and call it "semantics".
Yet you rely on the misuse of the term jiujitsu for Kano's judo as somehow meaningful to differentiate Gracie Judo from Kano's art. ThAT is semantics.
Enjoy your sophistry.... but it's derivative of Kano's judo like the other fellow wrote and has been over marketed as something special in my view too. Most people are ignorant so they buy into it .... at first.
