Thank you for share this! I live in Brazil and even here we used to see this magnificent cartoons from Disney. I recently talk to my son about that specific one! Awesome! Thank you so much! Marcelo

Well, the ending makes a pretty good point, people sell out to quick and easy technology and never feel the true reward of hard work.

Joe muffaw added steam in, cuz before the contest it took him like five minutes, and during it took like 2 seconds like paul. What a cheater

one of the first disney cartoons I can recall. saw it at the cinema when I was an infant. Enduring memory is that aerial shot of USA being denuded as Paul marches across the continent. Nowadays I find the notion of treefelling on such a scale quite disturbing. My other Disney fave is Motormania.

Boo Joe Muffaw! He's such a scumbag.

I used to love this when I was a kid. But I still can't believe that a guy with a hollywood mustache and a purple suit used a steam powered chain saw to cut down more than 240 feet of wood in one minute.

@UpchurchEric: Same guy. Thurl Ravenscroft (as Kirby Hoover, Paul Bunyan, Tony the Tiger, singer for The Grinch, & chief bust at the Mansion).
Man, I was just thinking about this one the other day. I hadn't seen it in 20 years yet I vividly remember the shot of the ox growling at the train as he passed by it. But what I remember most is thinking there was no way the chainsaw guy could possibly win, and then being all mad when I saw him "teleporting" from tree to tree. I was all like Annie Wilkes, like "What a bunch of cockamimie!"
