There's many versions of this song since it's so old. The only thing that stays the same is the chorus.

This song is so good. Just happened to turn the channel on my tv and the credits to the movie "The Good Girl" was on and this song was playing. Love love love it...

@briansmith92064, the origins of the song are actually much earlier: it may or may not have been based on a legendary "Robin Hood" [black or white, according to the legend] who gained the handle "Railroad Bill" late in the 1800s. Versions of the lyrics date back to the early 1900s. Ms. Briggs, working from lyrics and legend, composed her own version -- but she did NOT originate the song. It's a genuine "folk song."
