When Dan and Laurie are walking to Hollis's they pass the newsstand, where Bernie briefly talks to himself and then talks to Walter Kovacs as they walk past. Dan then suggests to Laurie that they catch a cab. We also see Seymour and black kid who reads "Tales of the Black Freighter"

  • 0:26 Rorschach becomes Joker.

  • @tiemedown No, I think they had split up by then.

The comic never explains it, and the game kinds of hints as to why they were no longer a team.

  • I like how you don't know it's roshac "sorry I spelt it wrong" until the escape scene.

  • @ArchoniusXXVII Thats exactly the point of Rorschach as a symbolic character but its just alittle hilarious how little Dan sees. No wonder Rorschach is constantly worrying about his safety, he has no idea when he's being followed. I feel like Dan has instincts but doesnt rely on them, I wonder what kind of detective he would be without his insecurities (btw do you know where Dan was at the time of Grice? I cant remember if the novel explained)

  • I love a lot about this scene. The guy painting the FALLOUT SHELTER sign. The kid reading the Black Freighter. The Veidt Method ad on the back of the comic. The "Halloween issue" of the New Frontiersman. The kid delivering them to the news stand.

In so few frames, so much is dead-on perfect when compared to the source. I only wished they did that for the whole thing. I would have loved a 2-part movie just to see them add it all CORRECTLY.

  • @tiemedown In Dan's defense, Kovacs is around A LOT in that neighborhood, carrying his THE END IS NIGH sign. Could be just one of those invisibly familiar people to him. He recognizes Kovacs just because of the frequency of his appearances.

  • @lugia3 No, Dan didn't know. He never knew what Rorschach looked like under the mask.

And technically, Rorschach wasn't "homeless" -- he lived in an apartment building run by a whore. In the comic it was a rather interesting build up where he complains about his landlady, she badmouths him on TV when he gets caught, then he confronts her after the prison break.

  • @XxXhappyTimesXxX No that's not Eli Roth. I'm pretty sure that guy's black.

  • @tiemedown what?

  • @stomyn that is reality.
