was in The Bats in 1962-4 when the h/q was in a church hall in Perry Rise, Catford. We all met up there every tuesday night for all kinds of good socialising. I actually went to the scooter scramble featured in the film. It was a very well organised club where every newcomer was made to feel very welcome! My name is Dave and my girlfriend Shirley (now my wife of 47 yrs) was crowned `Spring Princess` at the yearly social held at The Fox on the Hill pub, Denmark Hill,Camberwell. Anyone remember?
I was a member of the Bats s.c in 92. Barry Baker the brummy used to run it .We used to meet at the Pilot pub in Greenwich se10.They are still going but I don`t know who runs it now.
in the 1960,s a team from bognor regis motorcycles used to regulary ride at elsted the home of the bats scrambles, my brother colin briggs was perhaps more successful than me but i attained senior status and rode all over england. it was great fun at low cost compared to moto cross which i took up later. robin briggs
Was in the Bats in the 80's and went grass track racing a few times. Remember The Pilot well !!! From memory Barry a Rose started it back up and I joined up with my good friend Steven Dent better know as "Arthur " from hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy . Did the Holland run with them as well as UK runs, last I heard they were still going albeit lost touch about 20 years ago after moving the Southampton. Good bit of film cheers
Both my cutdown lammy 200 and 1961 152L2 ended up in the hands of someone at the Bats in the late 80's, would love to know if my ol 152 still alive or not, used to wander down the Pilot in Greenwich a lot with my mate Phil Martin (the only dude I know that can wreck a brand new T5 the same day he gets it)
The Bats were reformed in the early 80s by mates of mine from SE London, based in Greenwich. They looked into the history of the original Bats. I've lost touch with them, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were still going.
Great bit of film. I went grass track racing a couple of times in 78 or 79. I cut down my GP150 and raced with no success!! What a waste of a good Lammie even if it wasn't an Italian original. Great fun though.
There used (might still be) to be a Bats SC based in south-east London; Bexley way I think. Don't know if there was any connection with the much older club in the film.
I should have said the h/q was at Perry Vale, Forest Hill--near the junction with Mayow Road.

There's a Lambretta scrambler on eBay at the moment… I wonder if it features on this (excellent) video?
