very useful tips, thanks. just wondering how you go about getting audio consistent when you are cutting between various different takes which all have their own audio track?

Hopefully you manage to get pretty close with the sound quality and volume when you shoot each actor's takes. You can do a lot in post with Premiere or other audio-editing software, adjusting EQ, volume, etc. Try to avoid airplane or traffic noise on any of the takes, or you'll have to match it on the other tracks when you're editing, which can be tedious and time-consuming.

Hey S:
Great stuff. Although I'm using CS3 now, I still come back to your tips. They are incredible. I've used your training DVDs to increase my skills, and thanks to you, I am confident in my editing choices. Still shooting films. Thanks.

Good advice on the overlapping of dialogue for pacing. When do you film this btw?

You overlap the dialogue in the editing, if that's what you mean.
