This is the promised second version of this video. The first proved very popular in it's short time up, getting some 160 views. This version incorporates photos of Hugh Heron and his comrade John Pat Mullan which were generously provided by friends. Official IRA Volunteer Hugh Heron was shot dead while held prisoner by British soldiers at Ardboe, Co. Tyrone on 16 October 1972. Killed along with him was his Comrade Volunteer John Pat Mullan. Both men were veteran IRA Volunteers, having seen active service during the "Border Campaign" of 1956-1962. As such they were well known to local Loyalists and Royal Ulster Constabulary. It is believed the British army was advised to kill these men should they capture them, as they were considered especially dangerous due to their Socialist
political views and their status as senior leaders of local Republican activists. They forgot, however, Che Guevara's words: "You can kill the Revolutionary, but not the Revolution!" In the mid 1970s Hugh Heron's name was added to the name of the Cathal Brugha Republican Club to show a connection with the Volunteers of more recent times. It was thereafter known as the Cathal Brugha / Hugh Heron
Republican Club. The song is performed by Annie Thompson, and is to the tune of "Bold Robert Emmet".
