PERS has to project into the future so the unfunded liablity would be if every State employee worked 30 years and collected a pension, there may be a problem. It's like buying a new house and you put 10 percent down, you can still make the payments easily but your bank account would have to funded to be able to pay the house off in full. Only 10 percent retire, PERS still has to fund as all of them make a 30 year career, that were the unfunded liability comes from, it's not really there.
He is a MAFIA Lord, he and his family made money thanks to "no bid contracts" He is a typical, overweight NJ corrupt, trash. I know, I pay taxes to pay for his salary. NJ was a good state before the other Christy, Whitman, that is, she and her husband stole enough $ to leave the state in the dumps! People who voted for this pig (pardon me pigs) deserve to get what he is gong to do to the state, Unfortunately, I still own property there
So Where is he wrong? The answer of course,is that he is not wrong. He is right ad the public sector unions are intent on suicide.......else they become irrelevant to the Public Sector Workers......
In life, as in sports, don't take your eye off the ball!. Let's whack public pensions for your neighbors, then give the country club set BIG tax breaks worth >$700 billion. But wait, the rich will stimulate the economy and create jobs! Riiiiiiight. By outsourcing to India and elsewhere and investing in foreign markets. All of us need retirement security....and all of us can't easily evade taxes....
This war is coming to a neighborhood near you, and soon. You look at every town and state budget and the single entity at the heart of the budget crises is public worker pensions/benefits. The public needs to wake up and support pension reform before we become Greece in 5 years. Quit giving into Union scare tactics. Your children are not going to have 85 kids in a classroom, get abducted in the night or your house burn down simply because teachers, police and fireman don't get their 4% raise.
Are New Jersey public pensions defined contribution or benefit? And are the contributions, if the former, REAL contributions voluntarily done by the employees, or is it merely a tax that you can't have a say in? Like if I wanna put that money in my own private savings account rather than the unstable public pension?
