A collection a Jacob Riis' photographs used for my college presentation. I do not own any of the photographs nor the backing track "Running Blind" by Godmack

riis staged many of his pictures. he sought to assimilate immigrants to WASP ideals and culture, because they're way of life (religion, culture, customs) threatened what he perceived to be American traditional values. not to condone the fact that lower class citizens lived in horrifying conditions, but Riis's goal was to change their way of life, NOT necessarily their living conditions. in fact, most muckrakers only sought to assimilate and control to the standards of WASPs

Google is a powerful tool :) I just searched Jacob Riis and many pages later found them...they should be his pics...if not I feel like a fool now lolz
