This is the very good recording of the revised "Dear World", with cut songs restored and a chamber orchestra arrangement much more in keeping with the material. Maureen McGovern is very good, and this recording came to me sounding like it was from a scratchy LP, though since it was recorded in 2002 that is unlikely. Hopefully the full recording, which is live but obviously off the soundboard, will be issued. In this revised version, it's certainly a show worth producing. The much and properly to my ears maligned title song and "One Person", added at the original producers' insistence for a more commercial 'sound', are used here nearly as one song and also used more dramatically than seems apparent from the original recording. Also hoping that there are preview tapes of Angela Lansbury singing the cut songs, it was one of her great roles.
Persaude the Menier Chocolate Factory Theatre to stage this here in London !!! Please.....

I saw Maureen in Rochester in late October--GREAT performance. No one can deliver a song like she can. She literally blew us away, whether it was a gem like "The Circle Game" or the catchy "Rocky Raccoon." We didn't want the evening to end!! Congratulations on a wonderful show.

I directed this production with Maureen - at the Sundance Summer Theatre, and in fact, am directing her solo show now in Rochester. This was an archival CD recording (made along with an archival DVD for non-distribution purposes). Amazing that you got this - and it's lovely to hear it after all this time.

this is the one jerry herman show I would most like to see revived..I never quite knew how it played on stage but the cast album has always been magic to me..revise it, and if the quality of the cut songs is on the level of this lovely ditty then I am going to have a GREAT time!!
