After the sixth annual Beary Merry Christmas variety show, Keith Cormier's wife Doris told him he probably could never sing "Huron Carol" in English again. Ever since he founded the yearly Christmas concert to support the Corner Brook Fire Department's annual toy drive, Cormier has sang the traditional Canadian carol written by Jean de Brébeuf for the Huron people in 1643. This year, Cormier added the twist of performing the song in the Mi'kmaq language in honour of his grandmother.

  • This is amazing.

Similarly, my grandmother, who was Acadienne from New Brunswick, never told my mother that we have Native blood. In those days in the US it was bad enough to be French, much less Indian.

Somehow whenever I go to New Brunswick - or hearing this song for the first time - it feels like home - thank you so much for sharing it!

  • Wonderful! Just wonderful! Sounds fantastic. Thank you for sharing. I appreciate all the work that went into it.
