Amazing Grace

This painting is entitled: Amazing Grace by David Roland. This is an oil on canvas portrait of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. It is 40 by 50 inches.

This surreal impression came to me one night, some years ago, while I was in a state of slumber. Since then, I have painted a few smaller studies over the years. Now, I have in effect, duplicated just what that mental image means to me. It's was an engaging experiment.

What I find interesting is that, certain elements during the production of this painting were effortless, as though I somehow knew what to do. Painting on autopilot, if you will. I hope you enjoy it.

Amazing Grace - A living legacy. You go Dave. When I look at this painting I am reminded of his message in "I Have a Dream"

I also think of Barak OBama as he fulfills that dream.
