johnny taylor sanging!!!!!!!!!!!WISH he would have sung more gospel

About Taylor's voice "cracking", that was no crack, that is called a break in the voice. Its different. A break is where the voice naturally reaches the limits in a given range and in my opinion the break in this recording is just right. Cracks are more apt to be caused by nervousness or inexperience. There is NOTHING wrong with this performance. If there is a crack it was put there by Jesus on purpose. No, I never did hear Sam Cooke break or crack.

I remember hearing my brothers sing this in the late 50s', early 60s. They were the best!

@141Jessy This is a young Johnnie Taylor (very young like 16) and he was HAND PICKED by Sam himself to replace him in this group....and then in the soul stirrers as well. As Johnnie matured (in the soul stirrers) I assure you...you heard no more cracking.
-
He may phrase like Sam but doesn't "sound" anything like Sam ...
-
I agree Johnny could only try and he does crack ! But Sam was much more innovative and sweet never cracking . The thing is , Is that Sam Burned up the trail There was nothing left after Sam left us, only cheap copies and posers trying to capitalize on HIS SOUND . Johnny could only try and sound like Sam But couldn't touch Sam's Coolness , good looks, down to earthness , business sense , and writing capability ........

Johnnie Taylor was my friend, and I am so happy that these will still be around for others to enjoy

There is a dvd called, "Soul of the Church", and it features two or three songs by the Highway QC's, no Johnny Taylor or Sam Cooke though; they are introduced by a young James Cleavland, and it wasfrom a TV show shot in the early 60's. This song does feature Johnny Taylor who sang with the QC's and then Stirrers, and then went secular and signed with Sam Cookes' label. JT seemed to always follow Sam.
Torre`
do u have any vids of them singing

I don't think any exists. Footage of the 50s quartets is very rare. The QCs weren't even one of the big groups of the time.
I would love to be wrong though.
