In this video learn how to check resistance using a multimeter. Here we use a spark plug coil as an example. Please check out my other vids and subscribe. Thanks for watching!

  • wear will you set your multimetre to check the resistance on a crank position sensor with specified value of 480-1000 ? 200,2000,,20k,200k,2000k?

i dont get nothing @200 but wen i switch to 2000 i get 902 on multimrter,@20k i get 0.89 @200k i get 00.8 and @ 2000k i get 000 ! is it good? or is it me ?lol to be +expecific and sorry for my english ,the sensor is a vw g28 speed sensor and expensive as f@#$ part #0261210200 by bosch ,thanks 4 tutorial great stuff

  • @unicojon 2000 or above. Since the resistor has a vaule of 480-1000 any setting below that won't read. Thanks for watching!

  • If the number on the meter is higher, or starts out higher is that bad? My coil is supposed to be at 1.4 but the meter starts at 2.0 and moves down, sometimes it just stays at 1.5.

  • @HybridPineapple Could just be the meter. Yeah, that should be okay.

  • These are great videos you've made. Very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

  • @aaronlp06 ...You have continuity on the circuit but, it could be corroded, thus, you will have higher than normal resistance for that specific circuit. Circuits are close, open or resistive (i.e. corroded). You dont have an open, you don't have a closed, then it should be the last - resistance. My.02 cents.

  • @williamperry11 I'd have to see how you're checking to see if it was wrong. It could be shot. Being 30 years old that wouldn't surprise me at all.

  • @66kerekes Sweet!

  • So..tried this on my motorcycle ignition coil, and I get no reading at all. Keep in mind, the coil is 30+ years old. Am I doing it wrong, or is the coil just shot?
