I DON'T WANT TO SET THE WORLD ON FIRE~ Larry Cotton ~ Donna & Her Don Juans~ Horace Heidt & His Musical Knights~ July 24, 1941~ Columbia Records.
Horace Heidt featured several vocal groups with his orchestra, one being The Four King Sisters and another, Donna & Her Don Juans. "Donna" was actually , Donna Wood, the sister of another "Song Bird", named Gloria Wood , who found her fame singing with Kay Kyser & his Orchestra . In fact, at one point, both the Wood sisters sang with Kay Kyser & his Orchestra. Sadly, Donna died of a heart ailment on April 8, 1947 at just 29 years old and with her passing, the group known as Donna & Her Don Juans , faded into history. I could find no pictures of singer, Larry Cotton, but he is the featured vocalist on this recording. The Don Juans consisted of George Jackson, Jimmy O'Brien, & Eddie James. Other group members included: Art Carney ,Gordon McCrae, & Charlie Goodman.
I DON'T WANT TO SET THE WORLD ON FIRE was first introduced by Tommy Tucker & His Orchestra in June, 1941, Horace Heidt cut this version heard here in July, 1941, & then The Ink Spots cut a version of it too in August, 1941. Glenn Miller, Ozzie Nelson, & Mitchell Ayres also recorded fine versions of this classic 1941 tune.

  • Even though Fallout 3 used the Ink Spot's version. This I think is the best version of a fantastic song.

  • Very nice rendition of this song. Your uploads have very good sound quality they seem to retain a lot of the original fidelity in the records.
