@holdmydrinkbitch The copied from Shaw, A&T, WSSU, NCCU. HBCUs have been cheering like this since at least the 60s. We get it from our African ancestry. It's not "stomp and shake". They just renamed it so they could claim it. But they can't because they are Europeans. That type of movement is not European. Check Ballet and Ballroom dancing.

UNC-Charlotte has a Stomp & Shake team and its a majorty white school.

@choctawprincess2010 You will find going to an HBCU will be one of the best decisions you will ever make. Make sure you chose the one that has your major and the opportunities that go along with the major. HBCUs have a support system that cannot be rivaled.  Your quality of life will be better because we know and love you. Good luck!!!

@BPrideful Thank you! I am seriously looking into Southern and scheduling some meetings with a few other HBCU cheerleaders, as well as some regular colleges. My coaches and teammates, all think I'm crazy for looking at Southern and not SFA, but it would be nice to not be the one black girl out of 36.

@choctawprincess2010 HBCUs tend to honor our history by including African inspired routines while including tumbling and stunting. It is rhythmic instead of military, but precisioned. White cheerleaders try to imitate the style to no avail. HBCUs do compete. In fact, Southern University has won several times in major competitions. But HBCUs are not pressed for white people to judge us because we are different and don't feel we must have Massah's approval; they wouldn't know how to judge us.
