Thank you for posting this... my dog has been awakening me in the middle of the night and then I've heard these cries... now I know for sure it is a fox and some other wild creature. The only thing I was sure of was it wasn't a raccoon. I'm in MN in the middle of a large city...but, a creek does run thru my back yard.

We have Red Foxes here, in South Australia. Introduced by the early Europeans. When it gets cold, we hear these calls.

Hah hah, thanks for posting! I heard this outside about an hour ago and I ran outside to check for foxes but it was too dark. At least now I know those were foxes and not something else...
