  • i am driving a car for 23 years and i have riding a motorbike out of Europe. i got a full UK car driving licence for 10 years but not a motorbike.

1:Do i need to take a CBT training?

2: do i need to take a theory test?

    3: can i start ridig a 250cc bike with L until i take a test?

    direct.gov.uk site is so confuseing

    Thx

  • @ali110bristol You would need to take CBT and the motorcycle theory test, and then you'll then be restricted to a 125cc with L plates if you want to ride alone. Speak to your local approved ATB to find out more - you can find your nearest on the directgov website - go to the motoring section, then click on 'Find your nearest' on the right hand panel - then click on 'Motorcycle approved training bodies'.

  • Please please please help me out a little to clear few things.

I have passed my CBT last year. I have just passed my car driving test last week and now i want to be able to ride a proper bike.

    1. Do i need to buy a bike over 125cc in order to do this test? Or can i use my yamaha 125 which i currently ride?

    2. Do i need a valid cbt and car theory certificate? Otherwise i would have to pass the theory and cbt again?

    Thanks very much

    3.

  • @XOH4YB Thanks for your questions.

    1. There are several routes to your licence, the choices open to you are explained on the directgov website - home>motoring>learner and new drivers and riders>riding motorcycles and mopeds

    2. You need a valid CBT certificate and will have to pass the motorcycle theory test.

  • did my mod 1 yesterday, got no minors at all :), did my mod 2 this morning and no problems, however i will be considerng advanced training

  • Congratulations on passing the motorcycle test.

If you're thinking about advanced training, take a look at the 'Enhanced Rider Scheme (ERS)' playlist on our channel.

There's loads of info about ERS on Directgov too, so don't forget to check that out. You can find a trainer from DSA's official register of post-test motorcycle trainers from there too.

    Well done again!

  • OMG, I feel sick thinking about my Mod 2 test !! I am confident, but I get so nervous on the day!! It took me 4 times on Mod 1 because of nerves. I so need to pass!! Any tips????? xx

  • @LeeWoodsPhotography You'll need a 125cc, as they don't accept anything lower then 75cc.
