One last song from Flat Baroque and Berserk: Song Of The Ages.
I had never really tried to sing this one before so please excuse my lousy performance. Worst, I ended up messing with the fingerpicking too... Well, never mind... there are a few things about this song that I think are worth sharing. Therefore the tutorial.
It's in open-E (EBEG#BE) -- or you can use open-D with capo 2nd fret. I think the harmonics are the highlight in this song and they are really cool to play. It's tricky but once you master the technique it comes very easy. The idea of a ping pong game comes to mind -- you'll see what I mean. Unfortunately I had some trouble in slowing down that section, but I still hope this may be helpful. The lesson starts at 3:15.
Cheers!

  • The Roy Harper cause is quite real and burns inside those that truly love the music. Cheers for BadSpeech (Joao)!!!!!

  • @DrDoomTheOptimist Thanks, mate. I love Roy, the man, the artist, his music (most of it). But, frankly, I'm doing this just because nobody did it when I needed.

  • Wow........you never cease to amaze me with your dedication to the Roy Harper cause.....this is fabulous.......Kev

  • @electricragtime "The Roy Harper cause" now that sounds heavy! Thanks mate.

  • Good one, Joao, you're right my version of this has been floating around my head for 35 years or more, so there's lots that's just improvisation at best. You've really nailed the chords and the harmonics! Very well done ! Good tutorial. Sounds better with the guitar tuned up to Open E rather than down to D - much brighter sound.

    Best wiishes

    John

  • @LiteGauge Thanks John. I knew you would like the harmonics.
