Each leg is made of two triangles and one square. All joints are hinged. Triangles maintain their shape even with all connections hinged. The square however squishes due to the forces applied to the leg. This causes the walking motion.

The video at the end was best, sweet machine though. Was this for any specific class or just for fun?
