TOMs Vs. PADs (XBase Vs. ESI-32)

One midi track on XBase is sequencing ESI-32. At the same time I'm playing chords on it. Clicks & pops are caused that "mutes" doesn't mute the sequencer notes. It mutes the instrument sound channel only. Sampled wave on ESI-32 playing with LFO and VCF. Toms on XBase are analog. Snare, Congas, Shaker, Rimshot & Hihats are 8bit samples. Phased Hihat comes from Machinedrum. Recorded directly from Yamaha 01v96 with their own reverbs and compressors, no final mastering.

i have an e-mu esi 4000xl and it's great! found it on craigslist for $150 this summer. keep one of those in mind. they included a few filters from the esi-32 and from what i understand, the OS are pretty much the same between the two, so all the things i enjoy about mine i imagine are intact on the 32s. the only thing is there's no waveform display for samples. samples have to be cut up and chopped by ear, but whatever, it's music and you're supposed to use your ears!
