  • C172 N ENGINE FIRE DURING START CRANKING ----- CONTINUE IF ENGINE STARTS: POWER ----- 1700 RPM ENGINE ----- SHUTDOWN IF ENGINE FAILS TO START: THROTTLE ---- FULL OPEN MIXTURE ---- IDLE CUT – OFF CRANKING ---- CONTINUE 2 – 3 MIN FIRE EXTINGUISHER ---- OBTAIN ENGINE ---- SECURE (MASTER SWITCH --- OFF, IGNITION SWITCH ---- OFF, FUEL SHUTOFF ---- OFF) FIRE ---- EXTINGUISH FIRE DAMAGE ---- INSPECT
  • For a Pa28-140 its:

    1. continue cranking IF ENGINE STARTS

    2. power 1800 r.p.m 1-2mins

    3.Secure Engine -Throttle idle -Mixture idle -Fuel selector - off -Ignition - off -Master switch - off IF ENGINE FAILS TO START

    4. Continue Cranking

    5. Evacuate passengers to a safe upwind distance

    6. secure engine -Mixture Idle -Master switch off -ignition off -fuel selector off -Evacuate with extinguisher to a safe upwind distance
