* Marcin Groblicz (1530?~1609) Born about a
century before Stradivari, Groblicz worked in
Krakow as a Royal violin manufacturer. He spent
his life on researching and making violins,
but unfortunately, only a few of his masterpieces
remain.
Three of his works are exhibited in POZNAN
National Museum in Poland, and it is been said
that 3~4 are owne by individual violin collectors, but
this has not been confirmed.
Groblicz 1606 is one of the most remarkable
masterpieces, with its graceful curves and water
drop patterns.
His violin was constructed using a different
planning method to the Stradivari era. This wood
working technique was much more advanced than
used in Brescia, Italy, which was the "Mecca" of
string instrument manufacture at the time.
