I've been a big fan of Cyndi Lauper for years and also of Ronan Keating, both when he was a member of Boyzone and later when he embarked on his solo career. So I was thrilled when I heard his cover of my favorite Cyndi Lauper song, "Time After Time.
"Songs for My Mother" is the fifth studio album by Irish pop singer and Boyzone front man Ronan Keating. It was released by Polydor Records on March 16, 2009 across the world The album was recorded in memory of his late mother Marie Keating and also to celebrate Mother's Day. The songs that Ronan chose to record for the album are songs that he remembers his mother listening to throughout his childhood.
When Cyndi Lauper first began recording her first album, Polydor record company had a lot of material they wanted her to record. She altered a lot of the songs that were thrown her way, often changing the lyrics to suit her. Lauper co-wrote "Time After Time" with Rob Hyman when her producer, Rick Chertoff, suggested to the band that the album, "She's So Unusual," could use one more song. The record label did not have much faith in Lauper as a songwriter, but they gave her the chance to prove herself.
"Time After Time" was one of the biggest hits of 1984. It has been covered by more than 100 artists. Lauper came up with the title for "Time After Time" while reading TV Guide — Time After Time was a 1979 science fiction movie starring Malcolm McDowell as H. G. Wells, portraying him inventing and then traveling in a time machine. She has also stated that the apartment that she shared with her then boyfriend David Wollf in New York had a very loud alarm clock, and that's where the lyrics "I hear the clock tick and think of you" originated. The line "the second hand unwinds" referred to producer Rick Chertoff's watch which was running backwards
Nicely Done!!! Great!!!

Nice effort.. very tasteful. I especially liked the clock going backward with the lyrics "the second hand unwinds." Also the irregular pendulum going with the lyrics "the drum beats out of time". People seem to want to argue whose version of a song is "best". Simply put, this is a great song and Ronan does it very well. Thanks for making it even more enjoyable!

@gritsnsand Thank you for your comments. As I recall, this was a difficult video to put together, taking about two days to complete. Your comments show that my efforts were worth it. Thanks!
