@AsktheTechies @AsktheTechies There are plenty of viruses for Macs, I can assure you. They are less common, but they do exist. While I'm at it I'll also point out that Mac has MORE vulnerabilities than PC, there are just less viruses to take advantage of them. I've used Windows for years with no AV and I'm still fine.

@AsktheTechies everyone just uses windows security. a very good. free. pc protector that's served me well for three years. never bsodded never had a virus.

3 years of Mcafee, sum total of this being £4,448.01
But when i made a computer with the Hardware they sell as the equivalent 'MAC' version, the sum total was over £16,000
Even still, i can make the computer yet cheaper because alienware is overpriced. So why would anyone in their right minds buy an apple other than the sole reason that they develop media professionally (no taking media studies doesn't count)

By macs do it differently, you mean Apple force you to buy their overpriced computers (regarding the hardware they use.) i built a PC with alienware (another overpriced computer) It had the works
an i7 hexacore processor
two 2GB AMD Radeon HD 6950 CrossfireX's
16 GB's of ram
2TB RAID 1+0 (4x 1TB, SATA 6Gb/s, 7200RPM, 32MB Cache)
A Blu Ray Rw optical drive
standard wifi and bluetooth adapter
Microsoft office professional 2010 and windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
3 years next day repair warranty - tbc

@AsktheTechies How bout Ubuntu? Why not try the new Ubuntu Oneiric?

ooh my gooodd....another apple whore. No viruses huh? look man, did you know that all macs o.s. comes with the FIREWALL set as default to OFF? How fucking crazy is that? you have to go to preferences and turn it on. any computer without a firewall can be remotely controlled. i have a 12 core brand new mac and i hacked my own mac as my mac responded to malicious codes from another Mac. yes, mac to mac. The damage was so big that i had to re-install the o.s. DON"T BE FOOLED!
-
@AsktheTechies to the novice user there is no difference, you really need to actually let these people know the reality instead of blinedly promoting mac

Hahaha autobot? And come on, "A mac is smart enough to recognize that it's an application" --Wow

I thought MACs don't need drivers! I thought MACs don't ask you if you would like to run somthing!!
Were they lying in their PC vs MAC commercials!!??
Thank God I didn't switch to MACs before watching this video.
Mr.Lee Beard,if you know the ''parralels'' folder that makes the MAC a WINDOWS run program, does an MS DOS virus affect it if it is still turned plus the other varieties. Thanks!Ill wait for your reply.

The windows image can still be effected by viruses. Your Mac side should be fine with one caveat; if you share folders on the Mac side with Windows, a Windows virus in Parallels could affect those files.

When apple released the ad that says "macs don't get viruses" the hacking community took it upon themselves to attack only macs for a full month till apple pulled the ad from television.
Just because it is *nix based doesn't mean that it is safe from viruses. I'm waiting for apple to do it again and watch all of the little fanboys go OMGWTFBBQ?

The fact remains that there is no Mac Virus. It is conceivable that there might be one created in the future, but the reality is that Windows has far more vulnerabilities than Macs by a multiple of hundreds.
That said, Mac users should not be so arrogant as to think they are as invulnerable to disaster. Names like Titantic are etched in history because of such arrogance.

haha of course there are viruses for mac theres a simpson virus and im half way thro making one
jucoro5 3 years ago
The Simpson thing is a "worm" not a "virus" The difference is that a worm causes network problems but does not damage files on the users computer.
