A Man Who Planted Trees
Gordon Tooley is a man who not only plants trees but is a surgical magigian grafting heirloom fruit trees and helping to keep alive the biodiversity of high altitude fruit trees. Tooley's Trees is located in Truchas, New Mexico.
Its not only a tree nursery, but a well stocked tree bank for the future. A model for others to create similar seed banks and for those who care for the earth. Tooley has grafted some of these hardy, flavor-packed trees from 100-year-old cuttings collected on old homesteads.

thought you might like to know: there is an old (& wise!) man in france who has created "fruit forests" along walking paths and forest edges, grafting on to wild relatives of common fruits eg hawthorn, wild cherry. he even grafts sweet chestnut onto oak and olive onto ash, extending the areas where these can be cultivated...!
