Tough Love Chapter. 21

Since I dont own any make-up I cant cover up my red/purple-ish neck marks with foundation or concealer or whatever the hell girls use to get rid of hickeysnot that it would matter anyways, because Im almost positive someone would notice the gauging teeth marks. I touch my tender bite marks as I view them in the mirror. The spots where Joe had buried his teeth are vibrant shades and hard to hide. I think briefly about putting on one of Kevins many scarves but then I immediately discard the idea from my mind. The image of my neck being swallowed by one of those things makes me cringe. On Kevin they look fantastic but scarves dont exactly go with my style.
I guess Ill just have to grin and bear it at breakfast with the Jonas family.
I walk from my room to the kitchen casually. I sit down at a table full of smiling Jonass, happy to be reunited.
As soon as I take my seat a gasp leaves Mrs. Jonass mouth.
"What is that?" She holds her hand over her mouth, sounding worried. I think she may have thought I had some flesh eating disease.
My eyes unintentionally go wider and I try to hide my red cheeks. I knew this would happen eventually I just didnt think itd be so soon.
"Its" I start.
"Is that a hickey?" Nick leans in closer, a bit of amusement sprinkled in his tone.
"Thats on hell of a hickey if it is!" Kevin who sits next to me tries to hide his growing laughter and astonishment as he gets a stern look from his mother for cursing. He leans forward to check out my mark.
Joe picks at his bacon and keeps his head low.
"What are you dating a vampire?" Kevin doesnt hide his chuckles any more; he and Nick crack up from Kevins joke.
Mr. and Mrs. Jonas gape at my wounds.
They all silently wait for a response.
"Itsits a few mosquito bites." I try, knowing they wont believe that.
"Thats like some West Nile Virus shit! I meanwas it a Dracula mosquito?!" Nick chokes on his toast as Kevin continues to joke.
My face is burning hot and my hand flies to my neck.
Kevin, you stop that swearing! Its just not important where it came from." Mrs. Jonas tries to stay chipper and tries not to stare at my neck.
The laughter and jokes stop mid-way through breakfast until Frankie asks what a hickey is exactly.
Mrs. Jonas finds it difficult and awkward to explain and the subject is dropped.
"Soexcited for tour?" Mr. Jonas tries his best for a topic change.
"Uhyeah, Im pretty pumped to be back on the road with the boys again." I try to get over my embarrassment.
"All packed up?" Mrs. Jonas bites into her toasted bagel.
"Oh, no I hadnt even started yet." I tell her.
"Well I was thinking about going shopping today and I know how much you hate it but I could really use the company." Her eyes take the form of a sad puppys.
"No, its no problem; I could use some new boots anyways." I move my feet from under the table to peek at my terribly scuffed black, leather, motorcycle boots.
"Alright and Josephyoull come along too." She says quietly hoping no one will notice.
"What?" We say in unison.
"Your coming and were going to talk about behaving on tour you guys need to stop acting like children at eighteen years old. You will try to get along on this tour."
