The Falun Dafa spiritual practice has been persecuted in China since 1999 and resulted in over 3,000 deaths at the hands of Communist authorities. Now, practitioners in Russia are under pressure from their government, which has banned the main book of the practice, calling it "extremist."

It was a bestseller in Beijing and has been translated into more than 30 languages, but the main book of the Falun Dafa spiritual practice was banned again in Russia last Thursday.

The Board of Civil Affairs at Krasnodar Regional Court decided to place the book, titled Zhuan Falun, on the Ministry of Justice's list of extremist literature three years ago. That decision was then reversed in 2009, but later the case was re-opened from the regional to the district level. On October 27 this year, the court put the book on the list of extremist literature and on December 22, the court confirmed the decision to ban Zhuan Falun again.

The lawyer representing the Russian Falun Dafa Association says the decision was not fair.

[Mikhail Sinitsyn, Lawyer Representing Falun Dafa Association]:
"The right for equality between the parties was violated during the trial... this alone gives grounds for cancelling the decision. However the court did not hear our cancellation arguments."

When the Board initially set the ban three years ago they did not notify Falun Dafa practitioners.

Seven independent expert researchers have concluded the book should not be called 'extremist,' as it does not incite social, racial, ethnic or religious friction.

Department head of Scientific Publications of the Russian State Historical Archive, D. Raskin, has studied the book.

[D. Raskin, Dept. Head, Scientific Publications, Russian State Historical Archive]:
"The doctrines in the book Zhuan Falun urge followers to raise their moral and spiritual level, encourages the faithful execution of one's work and civic duties, including raising children, caring for loved ones, getting rid of bad habits, addictions—including smoking, alcohol consumption—the cultivation of a truthful, kind and patient attitude towards people."

Falun Gong practitioners say Chinese authorities pressured the Russian court to ban the book.

The Chinese Communist Party has been persecuting Falun Gong practitioners for more than 12 years. The former CCP Secretary General, Jiang Zemin, launched the persecution apparently out of jealousy as the practice grew in popularity. Under his leadership, millions of copies of Zhuan Falun were destroyed.

[Mikhail Sinitsyn, Lawyer Representing Falun Dafa Association]:
"More than 100 million people in 114 countries study this book. The governments of these countries make only positive comments, compliments and awards to practitioners, and towards Falun Dafa."

Falun Gong practitioners are appealing the court's decision, wishing to allow Russians free access to the benefits of Falun Dafa.

Russian leaders were and always will be hard core party members with one goal mind - to supress the freedom of the mind of Russian people.( "Fhrenheit 451"-R.Bradbury)To ban a book, which is beneficial to the people is what they have always done. If this book opens the mind of the average person - they will lose control. What they don't know is that they are doing Falun Dafa a favor- when a book is banned, that is when curiosity kicks in and people get more interested ...

Russia has ALWAYS been extreme in its regulating what the Russian people will read, listen to and believe in. This has never changed for the past 100 years. Their leaders were and always will be hard core party members with one goal mind - to supress the freedom of the mind of Russian people. Regardless if their Art and Culture traditions - Russia is worse than China, because they pretend to be joining the global thinking - but they are not. To ban a book, which is beneficial to the people

Chi Kung is a martial art and was from in inception, you simply have not trained with true teachers, or teachers who wish to show you true technique.

I've been training Chi Kung since 1989. My first Sifu was Dr Sun Fook Ka, then the president of the American Accupuncture Asociation. He decided every year which new points to make available for teaching to foreign doctors. i think his explaination of the history of the art is correct. KungFu means mastery through repitition; literally. be seated.

Chi Kung was never China's first martial art. It has nothing to do with martial arts in itself, the word simply means ENERGY WORK or ENERGY CULTIVATION. These practices were integrated with fighting systems much later, forming the "internal styles" of Tai Chi, Xingyi and Pakua, amongst many others. Kung Fu simply means "Hard Work" or "Time and Effort". To have KungFu or Gongfu is to have put in time to achieve skill.
