Casting news on the sixth installment of the Fast and Furious reveals some new details on what we can expect to see when the film hits theaters next year!

It was previously rumored that the franchise would be switching permanently to a heist film formula and thanks to Variety, it's looking like that's just what we'll be seeing when the film hits theaters May 24, 2013. Actor Luke Evans, who can currently be seen in the Edgar Allan Poe themed thriller The Raven has been tapped to play the villain in Fast and Furious 6. He will play the leader of a rival crew that is attempting to pull of the same job as Vin Diesel and his gang. The role was originally offered to Jason Statham, who subsequently turned it down.

Filming is set to begin later this month in London and Berlin. In addition to Evans, newcomer Gina Carano, who garnered positive reviews for her role in Haywire, has also joined the cast and will play an agent of Dwayne Johnson's Diplomatic Security Service team. Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez will reprise their roles for the sequel.

What do you think of the Fast franchise turning into heist films? Are you excited for the direction the sixth installment is going? Let us know in the comments and be sure to follow us on Twitter to stay in the know on the latest movie news. I'm Misty Kingma, we'll see you next time.

I really like the 5th but I think that the people in charge of this movie are doing the same thing I am doing which is pretending Tokyo drift never happened and so that is why Han is alive...not some stupid crap like that happens 10 years later in the story

Turning into heist films? People are on here crying because they want it to be about street racing like it was before...watch the 1st F&F again, it was about jacking trucks! Street racing does play a role, but stealing shit was always what they been about!

Maybe it's just me, but as crappy of a movie as Tokyo Drift was, I don't think it's a bad idea to just pretend it never happened. This franchise has made a switch unlike anything I've seen in any other franchise with this many sequels, from mediocre popcorn racing flick, to actually good action/thriller/heist movies.

they're going to tie it into Fast 7 from what I've read. Also, although this video shows that Statham turned down the role of the villian, Owen Shaw, he is supposed appear in Fast 7 as Shaw's brother and the driver of the BMW that T-bone's Han in Tokyo Drift.

apparently the end of this movie will wind up in the middle of Tokyo Drift (the scene that Han dies and for some reason i guess Jason Statham's character has something to do with Hans death), making Tokyo Drift the bridge between Fast 6 and Fast 7, according to leaks. lol
