I returned home to the USA from Haiti last week. I found Haitians welcoming and it is a beautiful country. The only resentment against Haiti's few "tourists" I could see came from white professional "do gooders" who stay at luxe hotels on expense accounts from charity groups and drive up prices. This is not to say aid workers never help, but at least tourists spend their own money. I learned alot in Haiti and will never forget the beautiful people I met.
God knows haiti needs some help and "UNITY" ,and haiti is a rich country by the way dont believe it when they say its da poorest in da caribbeans it is not true , yes i say it ...
@jgopg13 LOL @ help. I'm not the one enslaving Haiti via phony charities and other feel good nonsense. Haiti led a successful revolution because she wanted to be free and self-sufficient, and not remain in a state of utter dependency. Perhaps you've been conditioned to believe Haiti is not capable of helping itself, but that's certainly not the case. By the way, those million dollar luxury property developments that will go up in Jacmel won't be for the average Haitian.
I cannot believe you all fighting over ideas on what are to be done for the country.Instead putting your head together, you all describing yourself as who you are. For the sick of all of us stop fussing over each other for nonsense. Please put yourself together and bring excellent ideas to develop the country.
I thank what Mr Capponi is doing is really a blessing for this part of the country that has an historic past. I'm thanking this entrepreneur for his vision set for this area.
@nadoop Oh, and, umm, ask Jamaica, Antigua, Dominican Republic, and Trinidad how tourism is working for them. The fact is tourism should be the last on Haiti's agenda. Education, health care, food self-sufficiency needs to be the top priorities. Fuck you and your tourism.
@odile2000 And you continue to expose your dumbness. You have absolutely no idea who I am or what I do, yet you make baseless accusations. Sustainable tourism MY ASS. By the way, Haiti doesn't need help. Haiti needs to be left alone so that the people of Haiti can determine their own fucking future. There are those like me who are fighting for that, and there are those like you who are so brainwashed and uneducated to the point where you believe Haiti needs 'help." Kiss my ass.
@nadoop You are a SELL OUT anyway...I am not going to wastE my electricity on you...Come and live in Haiti and then YOU could comment how to re-built ...So call education and you are no where helping your country...AT least the rest of us are down there helping...WHEN YOU GET ON A PLANE AND HELP, YOU CAN COMMENT...Education my "DERRIERE"...Your education should off let u know that Michael Capponi was talking about SUSTAINABLE TOURISM...Je me demande ci tu viens d'Haiti...
