This is a response to a question on the SterlingKitCars.com forum showing general visibility from one type of side mirrors that can be used on a Sterling kit car. These are mirrors from an '80s Camaro with a rectangular parabolic mirror added. The video was NOT shot for this purpose, so it's not the best illustration.

  • Ha-ha! Yes, I've had a LOT of people want to race me. Anyone who knows the Sterling knows that it's a real crowd-pleaser BUT that it actually isn't terribly fast. The cool thing is that, when challenged to a race, you can just kind of laugh and roll your eyes and most people will assume that your car could crush theirs but that you just "don't want to be bothered to race." Ah, what they don't know.... :)

  • I definitely understand your concern. I'm 6'2" also. But I do fit into my Sterling quite well. My 6'4" 220 lbs brother was able to cram himself in as well but it was tight. It depends on the exact kit car (some are more forgiving), and a little on your body shape. A really tall, heavy person would have trouble in my car. But there are tricks you can do to the floor pan and seats to maximize room, and many 6'+ Sterling owners exist. I won't lie: it IS an "intimate" driving experience. :)

  • Good video, informative. I am surprised at how low it DOESN'T feel from the viewpoint.

  • Hwy1 North?

Looks like you're coming down the slope and heading toward Aptos... or are you going the other way?

Drive it on 9, the turns are a lot of fun in low slung cars.

  • Makes me wonder how many people have tried to race you. I bet many honda civics can't get enough because they don't have a clue what a sterling is.

  • I've been thinking about getting a vw based kit car but I'm big guy I think I'm like 6'2" or 3" would I even fit?
