The Iemanjá Celebration is an afro-Brazilian ritual that happens every year in Bahia. On this day, candomblé followers, tourists and visitors put flowers and other presents in the water to celebrate the orixá of the waters. This celebration happens in Salvador, capital of Bahia, and also in Cachoeira, where instead of putting the presents in the sea the local habit is to place them in the waters of the Paraguaçu River, in a place called "Pedra da Baleia". LEAA's team followed this celebration closely, and collected a vast material during the whole celebration, including pictures, audio samples, videos and interviews.
