Chita may be aging, but I saw a few years ago in NINE on Broadway. I counted myself blessed to be in a theater watching a true legend. She was fabulous in NINE which was many years after the production posted. I don't think Chita will ever be "too old".

Chita and Julie both showed the world that 60+ women can still outperform 30's and unders when it comes to Broadway hits.

people didn't go see "kiss of the spiderwoman" expecting Chita Rivera at 30, they fully expected and were prepared for a woman of 60-something enchanting them...theatre is a two way street...the performer gives but the audeince gives something in return, seeing Chita perform in this number is not just seeing a piece of choreography but seeing a bit of broadway history, some memories and some good times ..and bum times...all coming together, old age isn't just a subtraction but an addition as well

It's Chita. Step off.

I don't understand why it's a slur to note that a great dancer gets less great with age. Even Chita. There has never been, nor will there ever be, a dancer at 60 who can dance as they did when they were 30, and it's an insult to those greats to act like nothing's wrong, when CLEARLY the movement and energy levels are drastically reduced. One 180 kick is not a great dance routine; it is an older, formerly amazing dancer showing that she can still do one 180 kick.

@jjarndyce --lol.. launching new chitas... she is one of a kind!! she was born not made.. i've seen several younger performers play/ dance this role, none come even close to the artistry and perfection of chita...

amazing.
Got to say: never too old to dance? Are you high?

@jjarndyce nope! I'm a dancer who realizes that movement always happens until it doesn't :) Can you point out somewhere specific in this performance that you feel age takes away from the choreography?

She was a fantastic performer. Yes, she's very fine in this and, most of all, takes the stage with real presence. But it's nonetheless painful, in a way. In those years B'way kept resurrecting aging talent (Julie Andrews, too) and putting them through paces they were just too old to do. Instead of launching new Chitas. Don't mistake me: what she does here is very, very good. But the reality is, we're watching a GREAT dancer who got too old to dance.

@jjarndyce comments like this fascinate me! Can you point to any examples in the video where you feel age affects the performance? She' s not lagging behind the beat, she's not winded, she executes lifts and and a 180 kick. the reality of the situation is no-one is ever "too old" to dance.
