The excellent song Delilah, by the Dresden Dolls. Composed by Amanda Palmer, from the album "Yes Virginia".

Lyrics:

"there's no end to the love you can give
when you change your point of view underfoot
very good: you may be flat but you're breathing

there's no doubt he's at home in his room
probably watching porn of you from the fall
it's last call and you're the last one leaving
and you thought you could change the world

by opening your legs
it isn't very hard
try kicking them instead
and you thought you could change his mind
by changing your perfurme to the kind his mother wore
o god delilah why?
i never met a more impossible girl....

in this same bar where you slammed down your hand
and said "Amanda, i'm in love"
no you're not
you're just a sucker for the ones who use you
and it doesn't matter what i say or do
the stupid bastard's gonna have his way with you...

you're an unrescuable schizo
or else you're on the rag
and if you take him back
i'm gonna lose my nerve
i never met a more impossible girl....

at four oclock he got off and
you called up i'm down at denny's on route one
you won't guess what he's done
is that a fact delilah
larry tap let you in through the back
and use his calling card again
for a quick hand of gin

you are impossible, delilah: the princess of denial
and after 7 years in advertising you are none the wiser

you're an unrescuable schizo
or else you're on the rag
and if you take him back
i'm gonna lose my nerve

he's gonna beat you like a pillow
you schizos never learn
and if you take him home
you'll get what you deserve

i never met a more impossible girl

so don't cry delilah
you're still alive delilah
you need a ride delilah? let's see how fast this thing can go....."

  • fucking retards talking while she is singing

  • This song is amazing. Simple as that. I actually like it a bit more than the album version, myself. But the people talking over it frustrate me! I can't imagine why they'd rather talk to each other than listen to this!

  • First time I've heard this band or this song and tragically it reminds me of my marriage exactly and the scary part is my daughters middle name is Delilah way to personal ha such a sad tragic song but so beautiful love it

  • @TtheResa1995 Well, Amanda is married to Neil Gaiman, so not now. I'm not sure if they ever were.

  • @Smellbox88 It can be pleasant background if you let it...

  • You could change the world by opening your legs....try kicking them instead. ; )

  • are they a couple?

  • I agree with the other comments, the chatter is added or left in to make a point. and this song is amazing.

  • Seriously one of my favorite songs ever

  • I dnt think theres anyone actualy talking. It's prolly jst put in to make the song sound like she's being ignored.. if that makes any sense :p. But idk, I cud be wrong

  • I think the people talking over it actually adds to the song. It reinforces the feeling of being "ignored."

  • This is one of those songs you'd think EVERYone in the room would be standing still with nothing to say because they're just so moved with emotion they're IN the song with this brilliant writer on the verge of tears.. I don't understand why ppl would pay to see and hear this and just talk through it.. missing out on awesomeness and the message..
