The Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18, is a concerto for piano and orchestra, composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff between the autumn of 1900 and April 1901.[1] The second and third movements were first performed with the composer as soloist on 2 December 1900.[2] The complete work was premiered, again with the composer as soloist, on 27 October 1901,[2] with his cousin Alexander Siloti conducting.

  • It's interesting to learn that the movements of the second concerto did not appear chronologically, the frist appearing after the second and third. It's also interesting that the composer was worried by the form of the first movement when it is surely one of his finest structures. Also intriguing are the circumstances of his marriage. • After having some problems with the audio on here, I hope my voice is coming through loud and clear ,,, The reading is taken from an excellent biography of Rachmaninov , by Victor Serov a friend of Sergei,s.........

  • Thank you for the video.I was interested about his personal life.

I recall reading years ago a book with Tchaikovsky's letters, mostly to his brother, and his reflections on life and his travels were amazing to read.

    Same here about his marriage.

    Thanks again.

  • Thank you very much dear "Shela" for your formulation of this valuable information and interesting story.

  • Thank you my dearest friend for this video!
