In Sydney's Royal Botanic Garden there is a colony of grey-headed flying-foxes. I've searched for information why they use to sway their wings when hanging in the trees, but I couldn't find any. Is it just for enjoyment or for cooling? Perhaps a visitor will be so kind and give a hint. Thanks in advance!

  • I absolutely adore flying foxes! They are the cutest mammals. Faces like dogs but without the racket and they LOVE banana smoothies. Precious creatures...

  • If I've seen the pack of them coming to my hometown, I would shit bricks!

  • @johnlyris Are they available as pets? :D

  • I want to see the biggest Flying Fox fly around in New York, then see the reactions.

  • These bats are growing in numbers and are a bloody nuisance eating and damaging everything in sight.

I hope they all disappear as quickly as they appeared.

  • Flying foxes flap their wings to cool them down on hot days. They are sensitive to the heat and often they are exposed to the sun during the day.

  • Very nice. Thanks for posting.

  • LOL!!!
