This is a recording of me, a person who was born blind, playing through Pokémon Pearl version.
I will be starting from scratch, getting the 8 sinnoh league badges, beating the elite four and finally acquiring the national pokedex.
This I believe is my 7th or 8th time through this game, so I have become very familiar with it.
Most of it I figured out using only the walkthrough on pokemon.marriland.com, though there were a handful of small areas (many of the gym puzzles primarily), that were too complicated. For those small areas, I had friends write me special, script-stile directions that I can use to navigate those areas (I needed this for all of victory rode at the end of the game).
For most of the navigation, I simply go by using the walls and other objects (people, buildings etc) to know where I'm going.
I use Pokémons cries to identify the Pokémon.
About the segment:
I cut down the tree and enter the Galactic Eterna building. I beat the grunts there (though theres one on the 2nd floor that I can never find), then fight the commander. (Interesting luck helped me in that fight).
In the bike shop, I had a bit of trouble finding the person who gives you the bike, which I usually do. (Its not really hard to figure out, so I guess its not something I try real hard to retain).
My grotle evolves into a Tortera on cycling rode. I then travel the route to hearthome city. I tried for a moment to find some extra trainers who didnt see me on the first pass, but I couldnt find them so I gave up after a minute or so.

Please feel free to comment, let me know what was done well, what could have been done better etc. If you have any questions, feel free to ask; but please read through my channel before doing so; there's a pretty good chance your question is one of my FAQs. If the answer is not there, then feel free to ask me and I'll gladly answer you.

  • This is awesome that you could do such a thing in your state. Congratulations. Just wondering, why are you playing Pokemon and you are 19?

  • 1) that's a stereotype,

    2) since the release of the newest games it has become more common for older people to play it, especially with the wifi/ online competitive aspect of it, EV training (which I'm planning to try) etc.

    3) because it's the easiest game in the world for a blind person.

When I'm looking for a challenge to keep my brain going full speed, I pick up Zelda OoT or something, when I need something that's easy and somewhat relaxing, pokemon is it.

  • i cant believe u did all that and passed the game ...what 8 times! i could never do tht EVER

  • Sure you could. In the next couple of months I plan on making an audio tutorial on youtube on how to navigate sinnoh and recognise pokemon cries using only sound.

I'm willing to bet I'll have a pretty good success rate.

  • ur amazing man, im also surprised u can type the whole description. but ur amazing. as in really!

  • Well I was tought like anyone else, basically.
